The 240 horizontal braider is a prime example of efficiency, reliability and flexibility in the braiding world.

The construction of the 240 machine is particularly simple in concept and design. It is composed by only 3 major elements; gears, horn gears and sealed bearings that are also interchangeable parts. The same elements can be used on machines with different number of carriers (12, 16, 24, 32, 36, 48, 64, 72, 96 carriers machines). One of the latest innovations on the 240 machines is the new special alloy hardened, steel track system composed by a series of independent and replaceable track sections. Materials with high resistance and particular heat treatments are used for all rotating and sliding parts, capable of conferring the highest degree of performance to the equipment. The precision in the manufacturing of these parts permits a very low level of preventive maintenance and does not require any predictive maintenance.

The machine is also very simple to repair in case of any carriers’ jam or other sort of problem; a minimum knowledge of mechanics is required.

All the machines of the 240 series are now supplied with an automatic lubrication pump for the braiding plate and with a two-level centralized lubricating oil tank, with filtration system. The braiding deck is driven by A.C. motors complete of ventilation unit, with electronic synchronization between deck and haul-off or capstan. The 240 braiders also offer a maximum level of versatility for future expansion or for line modification. As a matter of fact, it is very easy to transform a single deck machine to a double or triple deck line. OMA offers a large selection of extraction systems to obtain best results with minimum cost.

In fact the line can be supplied either with Haul -Off or capstan extraction system, according to the different production needs. No special foundation is required for the location of the machine. The level of productivity of the 240 machines is excellent, 96 - 97 %, due to minor machine down time for maintenance , bobbin replacement and carriers’ setup.  

The " SDC Modular Carrier" manufactured for OMA by Simon De Young Corporation, represents the best match with the 240 braiders.

It grants a maximum versatility of use due to the fact that different bobbin sizes or materials (wire and textile fibers) can be used with almost the same carriers components. A wide range of tensions is available. The "SDC Modular Carrier" also allows off-line bobbin replacement and carriers threading and setup, which reduces the bobbin change over time, at least by half, in respect of the most commonly used carriers. The carrier can also be maintained and taken care of off-line during bobbin replacement, without loss of time, production and any additional carriers required.

The multiple wire threading carrier head is used to compensate for the difference in wire tension from full bobbin to empty bobbin, resulting in a constant wire tension control. High bobbin capacity assures long runs and outstanding efficiency standards.
